Petra – Inhabited since prehistoric times, this Nabataean caravan-city, situated between the Red Sea and the Dead Sea, was an important crossroads between Arabia, Egypt and Syria-Phoenicia. Petra is half-built, half-carved into the rock, and is surrounded by mountains riddled with passages and gorges. It is one of the world’s most famous archaeological sites, where ancient Eastern traditions blend with Hellenistic architecture.

Two men whose remains were recently excavated from tombs in western China put their pants on one leg at a time, just like the rest of us. But these nomadic herders did so between 3,300 and 3,000 years ago, making their trousers the oldest known examples of this innovative apparel, a new study finds. With straight-fitting legs and a wide crotch, the ancient wool trousers resemble modern riding pants, says a team led by archaeologists Ulrike Beck and Mayke Wagner of the German Archaeological Institute in Berlin.

The i-Road is not a car. It’s a funky electric three-wheeled concept the automaker seems to think we’ll one day use to zip around cities burning nothing but rubber. It combines the advantages of a motorcycle (nimble, thrifty, easy to park) and of a car (enclosed, controls you’re used to, won’t topple) in a vehicle that is as fun to drive as it is weird to see.

Canada and Denmark are known for their peaceful and democratic nature; one does not think of them as nations prone to sabre-rattling. Despite this, Canada and Denmark have been engaged in a territorial dispute for almost a century. At the centre of this dispute is a tiny outcropping known as Hans Island.

Meet The Coywolf – A New Species In North America
Published November 13, 2015 Uncategorized Leave a CommentTags: Animal, canine, coyote, dog, eastern coyote, interbreeding, New Species, wildlife, wolf
Interbreeding between animal species usually leads to offspring less vigorous than either parent—if they survive at all. But the combination of wolf, coyote and dog DNA that resulted from this reproductive necessity generated an exception. The consequence has been booming numbers of an extraordinarily fit new animal (see picture) spreading through the eastern part of North America. Some call this creature the eastern coyote. Others, though, have dubbed it the “coywolf”. Whatever name it goes by, Roland Kays of North Carolina State University, in Raleigh, reckons it now numbers in the millions.
