This page has a few pictures of the set of hand tools for the International Space Station. Surprisingly, they seem to be the same tools that most handymen have at home. One exception is the velcro straps on the combination wrenches.
Weird Trivia – The Entire State Of Wyoming Has Only 2 Escalators
Published July 26, 2013 Uncategorized Leave a CommentTags: elevator, escalator, Highrise, sprawl, stairs, stairways, trivia, weird, Wyoming
Why? (according to TheAtlantic) –
The dearth of escalators in Wyoming could also have to do with the particularities of the state’s buildings themselves. “I think a lot of it has to do with some of the buildings being older,” Sue Goodman said — and older buildings with multiple stories tend to rely on stairways and elevators for their inter-floor transport. Two of the most common settings for escalators are malls and larger airports, and places like Sheridan have neither: their stores tend to be standalone structures. Plus, “in the Great Out West, I think land is probably cheaper,” Goodman said. So rather than build up, “we spread out.”

It may well be that the NSA is recording every breath you take, every move you make. But it’s going to take them quite some time to review whether your breaths and moves are, in some way, significant or even troubling. So along comes an Android app that can help you by forewarning the NSA with “Look! It wasn’t me!” Being an Android app, this sprightly invention relies on utter openness. For it takes random shots of your cell phone and sends them to the NSA Careers Twitter account. You can decide how often you wish yourself to be exposed.

Stretchable Gold Could Radically Advance Electronics

Have you ever thought about the possibilities of bendable, stretchable electronics? They’re amazing. From a circuit attached to your brain to a pacemaker that sticks to your heart, these are the stuff that medical sci-fi dreams are made of. There’s only one problem: Stretchable electronics are notoriously impossible to make. At least until now they were. A team of engineers from the University of Michigan are currently perfecting an unassuming but incredible invention. It’s an elastic gold conductor. Made up of gold nanoparticles and stretchy polyurethane, the material just looks like a piece of foil to the naked eye. But after watching it stretch out four times its normal size, it’s obvious that this conductor is something else.
