St. Louis Tea Party’s Planned Protest Of Obama’s Birthday Cancelled Due To Lack Of Support

On Thursday, the day Tea Party nemesis Barack Obama turned 50, the local conservative group had planned to hold yet another rally in Kiener Plaza, the stage for several previous successful Tea Party events. But it turns out that everything slows down in August, even the ardent opposition to big government and federal spending. Writing on the group’s website, St. Louis Tea Party organizer Bill Hennessy said Thursday’s rally had been canceled for, among other reasons, a lack of enthusiasm. “Moreover, we received exactly three positive responses to news of the event,” Hennessy wrote. “Maybe because no one heard or because everyone thought it was lame.”
Hack The US? Prepare To Be Bombed

A truly frightening aspect to consider is that very few of the people in the US government have any knowledge of how the internet (or anything high tech) works. Their ignorance will be backed by the US military.
The US revealed its “International Strategy for Cyberspace” (PDF) yesterday. It’s mostly blather about how terrific “cyberspace” is, but it gets more specific on a few key issues like national defense. Could our next war start because of a hack? The government says it’s possible. “Certain hostile acts conducted through cyberspace could compel actions under the commitments we have with our military treaty partners,” says the document. “When warranted, the United States will respond to hostile acts in cyberspace as we would any other threat to our country.” Military force will only be used as a last resort after other diplomatic and economic remedies are attempted, but the US government has certainly realized the value of the Internet and has no intention of sitting quietly while corporate and governmental computer systems are attacked with impunity.
