New Photos From The Moon’s Surface

In 2013, China became the third country to land a vehicle on the moon. Now, a trove of photos from Chang’e-3’s historic expedition—35 Gigabytes in all—are easily searchable on the web. These are our first fresh images taken from the surface of Earth’s nearest neighbor in forty years.

NASA Recreates The Making of ‘Earthrise’ Photo [video]

45 years ago today, Christmas eve 1968, the crew of Apollo 8 was orbiting the moon when they spotted the Earth rising above the moon’s horizon. The crew scrambled to take the iconic photo everyone knows as ‘Earthrise’. NASA recreated this moment using the original audio and stunning graphics.
