The Belleville News Democrat reports –
Kathryn J. Gowin spent 10 minutes this week doing what some deer hunters never do in a lifetime. She bagged two deer — with her Ford Explorer. The Bunker Hill woman was driving home Tuesday night from Jerseyville after visiting a family friend. She had just turned off Illinois Route 16 and onto southbound Illinois Route 159 when the first deer hit her vehicle about 8:45 p.m. Gowin, 55, saw the deer in a field, then it darted toward the road, striking her vehicle just in front of the driver’s door. It dented the wheel well, rolled over the hood, then under the car, taking out the grill, bumper and left headlight in the process. Gowin called the Illinois State Police to report the accident. Because she still had one working headlight and was just 3 miles from home, the trooper told her to head home. Ten minutes later and a half-mile farther down the same road, another deer jumped into the passenger side of her vehicle, damaging the right front fender and door.
