Super Bowl Snack – 47-Layer Bucket-O-Dip

47BuzzFeed presents an in depth report on the construction of this super-sized bucket of eats. The author assembled it in a plastic ice bucket and it appears to be tasty. After reviewing the list of ingredients, only one ingredient should definitely be omitted – dill pickles – and I’m not sure about the french fries and ketchup.

So… You Gotta Have Some Twinkies

Your craving for Twinkies has reached the point where you begin thinking about making your own. Brilliant idea! According to Leite’s Culinaria it is totally doable. But then, this Popular Science article that indicates that a chemistry set and industrial bakery is required to create a “real” Twinkie. I’m guessing that the true lies somewhere in the middle – the homemade version might be good, but not exactly the same as Twinkies. Personally, I don’t understand all the love shown for a non-chocolate snack cake.

This time of year should be peak season for the insect catchers but Turyamugumya — who uses bright lights to attract the flying insects before disorientating them with smoke and trapping them in disused oil drums — says that business is tough.

Food Printer – Still Needs Work

According to PhysOrg.com –

The food printer is at the concept design stage, and would work by storing and refrigerating ingredients and then mixing them, cooking layers of the mixture and printing them onto a serving tray. The food printing process begins with selecting the required food canisters in which ingredients are stored and kept refrigerated. Ingredients are then fed into a mixing chamber and the mixture is extruded and deposited in layers of various and complex combinations of ingredients. During deposition of the layers onto the serving tray the ingredients are either cooked or cooled in the chamber or by heating/cooling tubes attached to the printing head.
