A St. Louis judge sentenced a teenager to 17 life sentences in prison, plus an additional 75 years, for his role in a bloody home invasion that left one woman dead and her family torn apart emotionally. Circuit Court Judge Robert H. Dierker Jr. sentenced Ledale Nathan, 18, this morning. One of the life sentences, for the murder of Gina Stallis, 34, is without the possibility of parole, five of the sentences are to run consecutively and eleven are to run concurrently. On Oct. 5, 2009, Nathan and an accomplice terrorized a family in a home in the 900 block of Hickory Street in the LaSalle Park neighborhood just south of downtown, prosecutors said. Stallis, 34, a nurse and mother of two, was shot to death. Her cousin, off-duty city firefighter Nicholas Koenig, and off-duty city police Officer Isabella Lovadina were wounded. Nathan was found guilty of 26 charges, including first-degree murder, after a trial in April. Today, four of the charges were dismissed because of a technicality.

Bush was to be the keynote speaker at Keren Hayesod’s annual dinner on February 12 in Geneva. But pressure has been building on the Swiss government to arrest him and open a criminal investigation if he enters the Alpine country. Criminal complaints against Bush alleging torture have been lodged in Geneva, court officials say.

What do prison consultants do?
They help get you into the best prison and orient you on its rules and customs. Going to prison is a little bit like heading off to college. The first step is finding an institution that’s right for you. Then there’s a lot of anxiety: Who will be your roommate? Where is the library? What time does the dining hall close? How do you make a good impression with the people in charge? Will you make friends? A prison consultant addresses these concerns.
