Ask The Past offers snippets of advice from very old books. An example, from 1658, involves “playing with” cats –
☞ “Some have shod a Cat round, with putting melted Pitch into foure Walnut-shels, and placing her feet therein, and she will make pretty sport.”

Mental_floss published an excellent collection of advice obtained from several centenarians about how to live a long life. My favorite is “Try not to eat anything that’s healthy. It’s true. I eat whatever I want. The secret to longevity is ice cream.”; of course that is contradicted by someone else with “Mind your own business, and don’t eat junk food.”

For example, #3. “Don’t Take S*** From Anyone”. Following this nugget of advice will often end badly, so it is suggested that “Pick your battles” is a better alternative.

1. Change yourself
2. You are in control
3. Forgive and let it go
4. Without action you aren’t going anywhere
5. Take care of this moment
6. Everyone is human
7. Persist
8. See the good in people and help them
9. Be congruent, be authentic, be your true self
